New York - More Than A Movie

I went to watch the movie NEW YORK thinking it would be one of those masala entertainers & ofcourse coz Katrina was there in it too. I mean who woulnt want to see her on the huge screen.  The movie didnt end up being one of those brainless entertainers but one of the most thought provoking movies ever. A total moneys worth.

Halfway through the movie when you listen to John narrating the torture he had to go through in those "detention camps" makes you cringe. I've read a lot of this in Friedrich Forsyth & John Grisham's books but to actually see it being potrayed on the screen makes it seem much much more brutal.

Which brings me to the  controversial thought which we all had when we came out of the theatre. Was terrorism justified if those so called terrorists were subjected to such inhuman torture? Mind you i know this was a movie but the fact remains that stuff like this happens all the time. Everyone knows about the infamous Guantanamo Bay. Is it fair to put innocent people through such agony & then let them go for the "lack of evidence"?

You just cant expect a normal human being to forget it all. You are cruisin down the street in your car & suddenly a policeman stops & asks you for your liscene which you dont have one you. He asks you to pay the fine. Dont you just get so so so wild with him. Dont you abuse him once you are at a safe distance from him? Imagine being tortured & treated worse than an animal for a considerbale lenght of time. Will you smile & accept the fact that they are "sorry"? Wont you harbour so much hate that you'd wanna do the same thing that was dished out to you? Its they who create the terrorists & then fight them! Not all of them but a lot of them. Terrorism has no place here & Im in no ways justifying it BUT every terrorist out there isnt someone who was born a terrorist.

My only question of interest would be "would you have been happy if the Sameer in the movie had pressed the button & triggered the bomb"? :-)

All About Torrents - Download Movies

A lot of my friends have been asking me about how to download movies through torrents. I always end up explaining the same thing over & over again. So I thought that Ill just write the whole thing down so that it can be a one time thing. Ill keep this real simple without talking about the P2P stuff & all the other unnecessary details. Let’s just make it real easy so that any beginner(like me) can start downloading quality movies without any hassles.

The 1^st step involved is downloading a “client”. Now a client is like an agent, a sort of a middle man so to say between the movies & you. This client has to be downloaded & is in fact a simple but a very key step which decides how all your downloads will go about. Now there are a number of clients from which you can choose. According to my order of preference they would be:

1. u torrent

2. Vuze(formerly Azureus)

3. Bitcomet

4. Bitlord.

I was a big fan of Vuze until recently but now u torrent is the leading client for various reasons. One is it is very lightweight, downloading it takes less than a minute & it has a very easy to use interface. I’ve given the links to all the 4 clients so you don’t have to go searching for them, just click on the names of whichever you want from above. Once you’ve done that save the file. Click on the saved file, RUN it which in turn will install it. There you’re done with it. Forget this for the time being.

Now coming to the fun part, the movies. Again if I give you the names of the major sites:

1. Isohunt.com

2. Btjunkie.org

3. Mininova.org

4. Piratebay.com.

Now I don’t mind you choose any of these sites coz these are the very best. You can get virtually anything on these sites. All the sites have the same format. Click on any…. Again all the links are here so you can click on them here itself. Once you’ve entered the site, type in the name of the movie you want. You’ll get a whole lotta results. The trick now is to select the right one to download. Here’s how you can decide which ones to select:

1. Torrents usually having the names Axxo, Klaxxon, Fxg are quality stuff, the very best you can get.

2. Always check the comments…. These will tell you whether the torrent is worth the download. Go by the majority vote

3. Check the seeders & leechers. Seeders are people who’ve already downloaded the entire movie & are sharing it , leechers are people who are still downloading the movie. Leechers share too.

See that the torrent you’ve selected has a good number of seeders. Once you’ve chosen the right torrent, click on download torrent, save it to your desktop. Right click on the saved icon & select the open with option & choose the name of the client you’ve downloaded. If you’ve downloaded u torrent, select open with utorrent & the movie starts downloading automatically for you! Enjoy your movies!

New Airtel Commercial - Toy Phone Ad

Delhi - 6

Expectations were very high... of course they would be. After all the last movie by the director was RANG DE BASANTI which went on to become a cult film! That is definitely an incredible feat to follow. But I guess whoever watched Delhi 6 will definitely say that they were left a tad disappointed. It was a fine movie don't get me wrong on that but somewhere down the line you almost feel cheated while watching the movie coz you go to the theatre expecting an entertainment sort of movie. After all the promo song was Masakali which was full of energy & almost makes it look like a fun movie to watch.

I wish the same energy was translated to the entire movie. But it was a rather slow movie except for maybe the last 15 minutes or so. More than an entertainer it was sort of a movie with a moral. Not surprising coming from a director whose previous movie was on similar lines. Rakyesh Mehra's movie's focus on the youth. He believes that the youth of our nation can change the corrupt system of our country. And he goes to great lengths to show that in his movies and this one was no different. I thought Abhisheks performance was amazing. He makes you believe in his character. He brings a certain coolness to his character. The biggest disappointment for me was Sonam Kapoor. Not her performance, it was superb but the length of her role. She was just used to get the audience into the theatres with the promo song. You yearn for more of her in the movie because the screen lights up everytime she appears.

All in all it was an ok sort of movie which you can't watch more than once for sure. If the story line was a bit pacy or some more humor was added along the with the drama then it would've been better. I would give it 3 stars.

ARE WE FREE???

Girls shouldn’t be visiting pubs, couples shouldn’t be holding hands, Hindu girls shouldn’t speak to Muslim guys, a guy & girl seen somewhere together should either be married or be siblings…….This is what the world has come to or rather what Mangalore has come to since its our world. We are supposed to be FREE people. We read it in our high school textbooks don’t we? “ India is one of the largest democracies in the world” We spend so much time studying all those things about democracy & being able to do whatever we want unlike a China , to grow up & be beaten up for trying to live what we studied back then!

Its come to a stage where people are genuinely scared! Forget going out with your girlfriend, now the youngsters fear even going out in a group inclusive of guys & girls…. The question we seem to be asking everytime is “do you think the beach is safe” , “is it ok to go to the mall”…..I mean A BEACH for Gods sake! What can be a more open place than a beach?

Today there is talk that the attacks on the girls at the pub was coz they weren’t following the “Indian culture” ….huh? Beating up women is “Indian culture” Oh yeah I guess it is just like those sari clad women at home who get beaten up by their drunk husbands for religiously following the “Indian culture”....Valentines day is just round the corner & we are scared that somethings might go wrong that day....ARE WE FREE???
